Hoog Soeren: Royal village in the heart of the Veluwe
In the middle of the vast forests of the Veluwe lies the historic village of Hoog Soeren - one of the highest villages in the Netherlands (85 meters above sea level) and a unique place full of tranquility, nature and royal history. The village is completely surrounded by the Royal Estate Het Loo, part of the Crown Estate Het Loo, which is still in use by King Willem-Alexander.
Thanks to this location, Hoog Soeren is the perfect starting point for hiking and cycling tours through the largest contiguous forest area in the Netherlands. During the hunting season, parts of the area are temporarily closed, but beyond that you can spot red deer, wild boar or even badgers and foxes here all year round.
In the village itself you will find monumental houses, a charming chapel from 1904 and works of art such as Paula in dressing gown by Maïté Duval. For those who enjoy golf, there is the nearby Veluwe Golf Club, located on the outskirts of the village. The cozy terraces and restaurants in Hoog Soeren offer hikers and cyclists a warm welcome - especially in summer, the village bustles with vibrancy.
Because of its royal background, special location and unspoiled nature, Hoog Soeren is a popular destination for peace seekers and nature lovers. And all that just minutes from Van der Valk Hotel De Cantharel.
